Valentine /Mother's Day Flower Pot

Summary: Make a Valentine or Mother's Day Gift with a small flower pot, paper heart of flower, play dough, conversations hearts, glue zots, and paint.

Description:

This makes a very cute Valentine or Mothers Day gift. Here are the things you will need:

• Small clay pot ( ask parents to provide when the budget is tight!)
• Glue ZOTS (found in craft stores)
• Paint and brush
• Conversation hearts, small buttons, thin ribbon.
• Craft stick
• Play dough or clay.
• Pre-cut heart or flower
• Small picture of child.

1. Provide each child with a small clay pot.
2. Provide paint and paint brush.
3. Paint the pot by putting one hand inside the pot, and painting with the other.
4. Once the paint is dry, have the children put the conversation hearts, buttons, or ribbon on the rim of the pot. Ahead of time, place the heart, or buttons onto a glue dot. Give each child enough items to cover the rim. The ZOTS will stick to the items when they are picked up. Then the will stick to the rim.
5. Place a small amount of play dough or clay into the bottom of the pot.
6. Attach the flower with the picture to a craft stick, and put the craft stick into the pot. (you can use the ZOTS for this as well!)
7. Now you have a little gift for a loved one!

This sound like a lot of steps but is not really difficult. They key is to prep ahead of time. Please see the attached picture to see the finished product!
